Greenfield / Ciao Establishes Native Language Market Research Panels in Japan, South Korea and ChinaWILTON, Conn. and MUNICH, Germany, Feb 13, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Greenfield Online Inc (Nasdaq: SRVY), a leading provider of Internet survey solutions to marketing research and consulting companies, and its European subsidiary, Ciao, today announced the establishment of native language market research panels in three key Asian markets: Japan, South Korea and China, allowing clients worldwide access to respondents for market research purposes. "This is a well-planned and strategic move for Greenfield / Ciao," said Albert Angrisani, President and Chief Executive Officer of Greenfield / Ciao. "We believe the Asian market represents a valuable potential expansion opportunity for us as many of our current large clients have a strong presence in Asia. These panels complement our existing presence in Australia to provide what we believe to be a compelling offering in Asia-Pacific, an emerging and important market for online data collection."
The Japanese and South Korean panelist recruitment sites were established in December 2005 and already the company has already seen significant activity and interest among prospective panelists, with approximately 35,000 new double-opt-in panelists recruited within the first month. The Chinese panel site was just established and launched for panelists' registration in late January. "Building new panels is a complex process that begins many months before the panels are ready to be used by our marketing research clients," said Nicolas Metzke, Senior Vice-President of Survey Completion at Greenfield/Ciao. "However, expanding into Asia added a few new dimensions on top of the normal challenges of launching a panel in a new foreign language country. It is not simply a case of gathering names and email addresses. For each country, we build local language platforms, websites and surveys, develop local currency incentive systems, and appoint a local-language panel manager. Added Gunnar Piening, Senior Vice President European and Asian Sales & Operations, Greenfield/Ciao: "There is growing demand for high quality online sample and data collection services in Asia from our global clients. We look forward to begin filling current demand from our own proprietary panels as soon as possible."
