NPD Online Research is an online survey panel owned by the NPD Group. NPD is marketing terms, stands for New Product Development.

The NPD Group was founded in 1967 and holds numerous patents. One such innovation is the hand-held scanner used for tracking consumer purchases. Basically when a consumer comes home from shopping, they scan the barcodes from the purchases they made onto the scanner, which then transmits the data back to the marketing research company.

The NPD Online Research panel has approximately 2.5 million panelists, with a main core of about 600,000. Participants from all over the world are welcome to join, if they are of age 13 and above. The NPD Online Research website is available in English, French, and Spanish.

NPD Online Research offers cash rewards for participation, or drawings for prizes including cash. No points system is currently in place. NPD Online Research is currently a member of CASRO (Council of American Survey Research Organizations) and the MRA (Marketing Research Association).

NPD Online Research has a privacy policy on their website, which has been reviewed by TRUSTe. As well, they are HABEAS certified, which ensures that they follow trustworthy e-mail practices.

Some of the major industries NPD Online Research conducts online surveys on, include apparel, automotive, beauty, electronics, food and foodservices, home improvement, information technology, music, software, toys, and videogames.
